Laboratory diagnostics services market in Poland 2026
Market analysis and development prospects
On Thursday, April 4, the Robotic Surgery Center at the Kliny Hospital in Kraków was officially opened. The da Vinci robot installed there is the seventh such machine in the country, but the first in southeastern Poland.
Medical robots are one of the greatest scientific achievements in modern surgery. They can be used in general surgery, urology, and gynecology. Surgeries performed with their assistance increase patient safety and reduce the risk of human error and complications. To date, nearly 5,000 da Vinci systems have been installed worldwide, and more than 6 million surgeries have already been performed using the system. According to estimates provided by Neo Hospital, the number of surgeries will reach 1.25 million in 2019.
The Kraków hospital is the first private facility in Poland to use a robot in gynecological procedures, including, among others, uterine surgeries. “In the future, we want to develop a program to build skills and promote robotic techniques among a wider range of medical staff in Poland,” says Joanna Szyman, CEO of the Neo Hospital Group.
The Provincial Specialist Hospital in Wrocław was the first hospital in Poland to install the da Vinci system. As we reported earlier, Mazovia Hospital was the pioneer of the system in the private sector. Currently, Medicover Hospital in Warsaw also has one. In addition, the da Vinci system is installed at the Provincial Specialist Hospital in Toruń, the Provincial Oncology Center in Poznań, and the Provincial Hospital in Białystok. In December 2018, the Jagiellonian University Hospital in Kraków purchased the Senhance surgical robot manufactured by TransEnterix.
The hospital in Kliny began operations in November 2018. It is part of the Neo Hospital Group. Since then, approximately 1,500 patients have received care at the hospital. One-tenth of them were from abroad. In 2019, the hospital has already allocated 11.5 million PLN for investments.
