Market analysis and development prospects
The Military Medical Institute (WIM) is the latest facility in Poland to perform surgeries using the da Vinci surgical robot. This is the eleventh such device delivered by Synektik in Poland.
On Friday, July 10, the Synektik Group signed a contract to supply a da Vinci robotic system to the Military Medical Institute (WIM) in Warsaw. The contract, valued at 16.1 million PLN, stipulates that the company will equip the WIM with the state-of-the-art da Vinci Xi robot model. It is worth noting that Synektik has been the exclusive distributor of these systems in Poland since July 2018.
WIM plans to use the system for procedures performed on military patients and for surgeries on civilians in accordance with agreements with the National Health Fund (NFZ). The da Vinci robot will be put into operation at the Institute in September of this year.
WIM is the first military facility in Poland to begin using the da Vinci system. It is also worth noting that surgical robots are widely used by military hospitals around the world. Major General Grzegorz Gielerak, director of the Military Medical Institute (WIM) in Warsaw, said that the Military Medical Institute has been successfully implementing modern treatment methods for years, focusing on advanced medical technologies.
Currently, surgeries using da Vinci robots are performed at centers located in eight Polish cities: Białystok, Kraków, Poznań, Siedlce, Szczecin, Warsaw, Wieliszew, and Wrocław.
