Poles are buying more and more dietary supplements

The Polish dietary supplement market is growing very rapidly, and forecasts indicate that this trend is set to continue in the coming years. As shown in our latest report, “The Dietary Supplements Market in Poland 2024,” this sector will experience dynamic growth between 2024 and 2029. What factors are driving this trend?

What drives the dietary supplement market?

One of the key factors driving the dynamic growth of the dietary supplement market is the expansion of e-commerce. More and more Poles are choosing to shop online, a trend that is also evident in the dietary supplement market. Data shows that the percentage of Poles buying dietary supplements online rose from 5% in 2016 to 36% in 2023.

Growing Health Awareness

Another factor driving the dietary supplement market is Poles’ growing health awareness. More and more people view supplements as part of their daily health prevention routine. A survey conducted in July 2024 by PMR Market Experts showed that 40% of respondents take supplements daily, and 35% use several types at the same time. This shows that they are becoming an integral part of many Poles’ lifestyles.

Changing Shopping Preferences

Poles’ preferences regarding the purchase of dietary supplements are changing. Traditional brick-and-mortar pharmacies are losing popularity, and their share of supplement sales is declining. In 2023, online sales already accounted for more than 23% of the total market value.

Market Saturation in the Internet Sector and New Challenges

Although the popularity of online shopping is growing, the online market is becoming increasingly saturated. The number of sellers and available products is constantly increasing, leading to greater competition. This is a positive development for consumers, as they can compare prices and product reviews, which further encourages them to shop online.

What factors influence the choice of supplements?

Poles’ choice of dietary supplements is primarily driven by recommendations from doctors or pharmacists and attractive prices. Interestingly, Poles do not always choose the cheapest options. More than half of respondents believe it is worth investing in high-quality supplements, even if they are more expensive. This means that consumers are looking for a balance between price and quality, which presents new challenges and opportunities for manufacturers and retailers.
