Laboratory Diagnostics in Poland: More Tests and Market Trends

The laboratory diagnostics services market in Poland is maintaining stable, single-digit growth, despite a continued—albeit increasingly slower—decline in the number of facilities. According to our latest report, *The Market for Laboratory Diagnostic Services in Poland 2026*, in 2025, the key driver of growth was improved efficiency at existing laboratories, rather than network expansion. At the same time, the competitive dynamics among the largest players have shifted. The Alab Group, thanks in part to the acquisition of a large laboratory network, achieved a higher growth rate in the number of tests than the Diagnostyka Group.

The market is growing thanks to efficiency, not expansion

In 2025, the number of tests performed in the laboratory diagnostics market in Poland grew at a single-digit rate. At the same time, the number of laboratory facilities decreased by approximately 3%*.

– We have observed that the rate of decline in the number of facilities was significantly slower than in previous years, and market growth continues to stem from better utilization of the operational potential of existing laboratories, rather than from network expansion. Increasing automation and stable demand for diagnostic tests enable the largest players to increase the number of tests performed, while focusing their investments on expanding central laboratories, implementing modern systems, developing networks of specimen collection sites, and improving efficiency.

In the medium term, the market’s fundamentals remain stable. According to forecasts by our experts from the PMR Market Experts by Hume’s team, market growth in 2026 will be similar to that observed in 2025, and its main driver will continue to be the further increase in the number of tests performed by existing laboratories.

Alab is picking up the pace, but his lead remains secure

The past year brought changes among the market’s largest players, although the leading position remained unchanged. Our estimates show that the Alab Group has narrowed the gap with the previous market leader, the Diagnostyka Group. What’s more, as our experts point out, it has clearly surpassed Diagnostyka in terms of the growth rate of the number of tests. The strongest driver of growth for Alab was a major acquisition completed in 2025. The addition of the CDL network—whose laboratories performed a total of nearly 14 million tests in 2024—resulted in high double-digit growth in the number of tests across the entire group. By comparison, in the first three quarters of 2025, the number of tests performed by the Diagnostyka Group increased by approximately 9%.

IVD Equipment and Systems: Roche Is the Most Recognizable Brand

The dynamic growth of laboratories would not be possible without the necessary technological infrastructure. The market for IVD diagnostic equipment and reagents in Poland remains highly competitive and segmented. There is no single, clear leader in this market, and a group of international suppliers plays a key role. Among the companies with the strongest market positions are primarily Roche, Siemens Healthineers, and Abbott, although other specialized manufacturers also dominate specific segments of equipment and reagents.

According to our team’s survey, Roche remains the most recognizable manufacturer of laboratory diagnostic equipment in Poland for yet another year in a row. The company also held the top position in similar surveys conducted in 2020, 2022, and 2024.

– Roche’s strong market presence stems from its broad portfolio of analyzers, advanced automation systems, and long-standing partnerships with healthcare providers. The brand’s solutions are used in both large, high-throughput network laboratories and smaller diagnostic facilities, which further strengthens its position in the IVD market ecosystem.
